During the holiday season, Palace Hotel Tokyo sets an enchanting scene with festive decorations throughout its public spaces, including a stately, 16-foot-tall Christmas tree taking center stage in the grand lobby.
With majestic lighting displays beginning to shine across the city from early November through the Christmas holidays, a ‘Tokyo Illuminations’ tour makes for the perfect addition to the stay experience. The hotel’s concierge team can arrange for guests to be chauffeured around the city in a private car to several areas featuring impressive installations, including the brilliantly lit Marunouchi Naka Dori – the 0.8-kilometer-long (half a mile), tree-lined boulevard that stretches from nearby the hotel to the ritzy Ginza district. Also on the itinerary are chic Omotesando and buzzing Shibuya.
Tailored to guests’ interests, the tour can cover numerous stops, including the opportunity to swing by Tokyo’s Christmas markets – from the more traditional German-style market at Roppongi to the city’s largest at Meiji Jingu Gaien and the enchanting holiday fair at Azabudai Hills.
Grand Kitchen, Palace Hotel Tokyo’s all-day dining restaurant, offers an upscale culinary experience for the season, exuding the comfort and warmth of spending the holidays in a grand residence. A large, see-through fireplace adds to its coziness on chilly Tokyo nights while its award-winning wine menu of over 550 selections is sure to satisfy oenophiles.

Travelers expecting to miss out on their favorite European-style Christmas breads and cakes while in Japan may be surprised to discover an array of home-baked stollen, kouglof, berawecka and panettone at Sweets & Deli, the hotel’s pastry shop – including some with uniquely Japanese twists, such as the Bohnen Stollen made with yuzu-flavored marzipan and kinako (soybean flour) and Kouglof de Noël baked with sweet chestnuts kneaded into a matcha dough and finished with a raspberry chocolate glaze.
