Perched on one of Vietnam’s best beaches, Meliá Ho Tram Beach Resort’s Vietnamese restaurant Muoi reopened this month after a four-month makeover and with a new ‘Taste of the Sea’ menu dedicated to live seafood including lobster. The revamped restaurant’s changes include a new open kitchen, an open bar and array of fish tanks that showcase the new menu’s seven live seafood options lobster, grouper, pomfret, clams, sentinel crab, prawns and turgid Venus shell. The live seafood is handpicked from local fish markets.
Diners choose if their seafood is grilled, wok-fried, steamed or baked, and from a wide selection of sauces and popular Vietnamese accompaniments such as lime, chili, ginger, garlic, onion, coriander and mint basil.
“Savouring fresh seafood is a way of life here in Vietnam, and we felt it fitting to pay tribute to the name of our restaurant Muoi, with a menu titled ‘taste of the sea’ as you cannot get seafood any fresher,” said the resort’s general manager Alvaro Berton.
Muoi, which means salt in Vietnamese, has also launched a new a la carte Vietnamese menu, that starts out with a variety of appetizers such as steamed razor clams with ginger, chili, spring onion and holy basil, stir-fried frog legs with chili and lemongrass and deep-fried crispy soft-shell crab. Fresh oysters with wasabi, and grilled oysters with spring onion and garlic, are among the menu’s oyster selection. Not-to-be-missed dishes in the menu’s ‘hot dishes’ section include traditional Vietnamese pho, Hue beef noodle soup and sour soup with cobia fish.
Salad options include jellyfish salad, fresh pineapple salad with smoked Ho Tram duck, cherry tomatoes and ginger with chili dressing, and lotus salad with pork and shrimp.
The menu offers a broad selection of pork, chicken, beef, shrimp, crab, squid, fish, rice, and vegan main courses, such as braised pork ribs, caramelized chicken leg in a clay pot, stir-fried shrimp with tamarind sauce, and grilled eggplant with spring onion. Mango flambee, Vietnamese coffee flan and Vietnamese banana tapioca pudding are among the desserts.
Muoi also offers a selection of wines, cocktails, spirits including whiskeys, a ‘G&T Club’ menu comprising various gin and tonic beverages, and cigars.
