We couldn’t complain about the size of it!

It was after a few nights in Danang that we decided to splurge and booked a room at Fusion Suites Danang. We found it to be the ideal base that combines the comforts and conveniences of a studio apartment, with the facilities, services and hospitality of a hotel. Fusion Suites Danang has 23 stories and is located right on the beachfront of Danang, Vietnam, a stone’s throw from restaurant and facilities.

Our room, an Ocean Suite on the 14th floor, was just fabulous and massive. It was more like a mini apartment with kitchenette with microwave facility, a hob, dishes and cutlery, and a massive fridge.

Leonardo has colonised his room

The bathroom had a bathtub, for Leonardo’s evening pampering. There was a separate kids room with bunk beds so these units are perfect for families with kids. You could also use it as a dressing room if you are traveling without kids. That was the first and only time Leonardo got his own room during our month-long trip. He did sleep in his bed, but only for one night as it was too tempting to have him near me and cuddle him in bed while looking at the ocean, at the night fishermen coming and going from the shore, and at a full moon. We felt blessed.

Electric curtains added to that feeling of luxury, and the the stunning views were unparalleled as you can imagine: the ocean, the golden sands of Danang beach, the Lady Buddha, the Son Tra peninsula, and the coast all the way to Hoi An. What a treat.

Fusion Suites Danang location is purely enviable

Fusion Suites Danang has two restaurants: one is on the lobby area, and it is where you are served a nice buffet breakfast in the morning and where you can have lunch. The menu is somehow limited but the essential was there: a couple of Asian dishes that I found yummy, sandwiches and drinks. The other restaurant is at the rooftop and it commands brilliant views over the whole coast. It was a pleasure to sit there in the evening, enjoying a cocktail and watching the Danang lit coastline. The menu is the same as the lobby restaurants, but I was told there are plans to extend the upstairs area into a proper eating venue in the near future.

He really loved the sofa!

The hotel has a small sit-out area at its front, where you can sit in the evenings and see the traffic buzz by. And the beach is just across the road from the hotel’s entrance – the hotel operates a ‘help-you-cross-the-road’ service, ask reception. They have a swimming pool right across the road (though it was off-limit for maintenance at the time of our stay) – it is apparently the only pool on the boulevard that’s right on the beach -, and a sort of beach club serving drinks. This side of Danang beach is rarely crowded so you can enjoy your privacy.

Leonardo played safe in the Spa during my treatment

The whole second floor hosts a Spa with a good range of treatments, and a gym with modern equipment. I had an amazing foot reflexology there, done by professional hands in a great ambience, with soothing music playing on the background. Leonardo played safely with the therapists while I had my treatment, and this was one of the rarest moments during the trip when I managed to really relax.

Fusion Suites Danang staff’s English was somehow limited, but they were all so pleasant and accommodating, and always showing a beautiful smile.

The view from the rooftop

Above all, they all had a special attention for Leonardo, and this is great for someone like me traveling as a solo parent with a kid. Please note that there is a a construction site on one side of the hotel, and it may get noisy during the day. Ask for the side with no construction or for an ocean view room.

Leonardo amused at the restaurant big apple

Despite feeling more like a condo than like a hotel – therefore do not expect to receive the attention you would from staff in a 5 star hotel -, Fusion Suites Danang is a pleasant and enviable dwelling with city-living facilities on a great beachfront location, a place to call home during your time in Danang with your kids.
