Eaton HK proudly announces the return of its highly anticipated Movement Festival set to captivate the community once again from 23 – 24 November.

Originally launched in 2019, the festival returns to its exhilarating 24-hour format, by creating a non-stop viewing experience with a constant flow of movement activations in public spaces such as the Lobby or Eaton Foodhall. This year’s festival will feature an eclectic selection of performances, highlighting everything from contemporary dance and Cantonese theater to ballet and martial arts.
This year’s theme “Speaking From Afar”, inspired by a fable by Jean de La Fontaine, which encapsulates the experience of movement and connects it to the act of speaking. Speaking as a form of movement, through the use or non-use of physical gestures, is the motive behind each of the performances and interweaves the various forms of expression together in the festival.

The 2024 edition of Movement Festival will showcase over 30 performances by over 50 performance artists from Hong Kong and overseas including Jas Lin (Los Angeles, U.S.A.), Lara Dâmaso (Zurich , Switzerland), Joseph Lee (Hong Kong), and Li De (Hong Kong) as well as regional and local arts and cultural organizations like NOWNESS Asia, YINZI Theatre (Chongqing, China), Unlock Dancing Plaza (Hong Kong) and TS Crew (Hong Kong).
Continuing Eaton HK’s esteemed partnership with Hong Kong Ballet, now in its fifth year, the 2024 Movement Festival will open with a series of short performances by the dance company, as well as an intimate panel discussion with Artistic Director Septime Weber and choreographers.

In the lead up to the Festival, Eaton HK will host French actor and performer Constantin Leu who will conceptualize a new commissioned performance during his 3-week artist’s residency, performing it with a solo performance on 24th November evening as closing performance of the festival.
The Festival has always been a platform for cultural exchange. This year we have invited members of different ethnic groups from within Asia to enrich the program with their traditional dances, including members from Asian Migrant Coordinating Body, and Beyond Bollywood. To enhance the bond between the locals and migrant communities further, a group of migrant domestic workers have been invited to co-create a new dance piece with choreographer Sylvie Cox, to tell their story of migration, which will premiere at the Festival.
