Society Atelier Sarawak (The Arts and Crafts Society of Sarawak Malaysia) is organizing a Pre-Christmas and New Year Atelier Arts Charity Bazaar this weekend. The charity bazaar aims to raise fund for PERKATA (School for the Deaf & Mute), Heart Treasures (NGO for >18yr Autistics), Kuching Autistic Association, Barefoot Mercy and Helping Hands Penan.

The charity Bazaar is open to the public from 10 am to 5 pm , Sat 17 and Sun 18 Dec 2016 at Chinahouse in the Old Courthouse, Kuching. On sale at the charity Bazaar will be various hand-made Penan rattan crafts from Long Lamai and Long Lamam, Bakelalan natural iodised salt, handwoven ‘pua kumbu’ silk and cotton textiles and rattan ‘topi tunjang’ from Rumah Garie longhouse, shopping baskets by Helping Hands Penan, exclusive jewelry designs of Ramsay Ong, hand and finger puppets by Jan of Denis Tailoring , Neng Kho Razali’s head gear (Neng will be there with the latest turbans and head-wraps, and 20% of their sales will be contributed to the fund – https://www.facebook.com/Bonnie.Neng.Syaziyah?fref=ufi); Michael Lim’s paintings and copper hornbills, Edric Ong’s natural dyed silk scarves and other crafts, artwork and gift items made by Heart Treasures and Atelier artists.

Other international artists taking part include Iranian artist Soraya (Mescobeh Mescobeh) with her hand-painted mother of pearl, Chabatik (Thailand) with double ikat silk shawls, and an array of Indian silk textiles. The Fashion Show featuring the latest collection ‘ Shibori + Lace’ of renowned international Sarawakian designer Edric Ong is 4.30-5.30pm on Sat 17 Dec at the Canteen of Chinahouse.
