Banyan Tree Krabi Launches Dedicated Centre for Wellbeing

Banyan Tree Krabi, recognised as one of the leading hotels in Thailand, has opened a new onsite facility to provide guests the option of wellbeing activities, as well as expert tuition in Pilates and Thai boxing. Known as the Mek Khram Wellbeing Centre, this newly constructed air-conditioned indoor venue is adjacent to Banyan Tree Spa Krabi and its renowned Rainforest hydrotherapy facility. An experienced trainer will guide Pilates classes, aimed at improving core strength, flexibility and stability. The centre features high-quality pilates equipment, such as reformer tables, Cadillac tables and ladder barrels.

Thai Boxing – ever popular among visitors to Thailand – will also be available. A Thai Boxing trainer is now on hand to introduce the traditional martial art to beginners and fitness enthusiasts who will appreciate immersive training sessions that elevate cardio and sharpen the senses in a safe environment.

Additionally, classes in Hatha Yoga, stretching and core strength training will take place at the new facility, joining an existing wellbeing itinerary that includes floating meditation, tai chi, forest bathing and sailing lessons.

“The opening of the Mek Khram Wellbeing Centre is a natural reaction to the growing popularity of health and fitness for today’s discerning traveller on vacation,” said Banyan Tree Krabi General Manager Ms Haruethai Maneerat. “The Banyan Tree brand is becoming increasingly synonymous with its Wellbeing Sanctuary programme – and we see more and more guests looking to achieve fitness goals while simultaneously making time for relaxing and rejuvenating.”

Rolled out in October 2021, Banyan Tree Krabi’s Wellbeing Sanctuary programme offers guests the option of a personalised itinerary of activities such as yoga and meditation, fitness training, nutritious diet, spa treatments and sleep therapy.

The Wellbeing Sanctuary concept is based on Banyan Tree’s own holistic “8 Pillars” principle: Rest; Nourishment; Connection; Movement; Mindfulness; Growth; Groundedness; and Practice.

Participants receive a questionnaire ahead of arrival to establish realistic health and fitness goals, followed by a one-to-one consultation with a Wellbeing Practitioner at the resort to set a daily itinerary.

“We will tailor the schedule to suit each guest’s individual tastes,” said Wellbeing Practitioner and Ayurvedic specialist Dr Subhash Shanbhag, who oversees the Wellbeing Sanctuary programme at Banyan Tree Krabi. “A day might begin before breakfast with yoga or tai chi on the beachfront lawn, then later some activities like kayaking or forest walking, followed by a hydrotherapy spa treatment in the afternoon, meditation at sunset, and a sleep technique for bedtime.”

Other notable options include aqua therapy, workouts in the resort’s fitness centre and Thai massage or facial treatments.

Floating Meditation – here complemented with sound therapy – is another unique activity at Banyan Tree Spa Krabi

“The introduction of Pilates and Thai boxing classes adds new and exciting alternatives to our menu of healthy-living options,” he added. “With its location on a tranquil tropical beachfront and lush mountainous backdrop, Banyan Tree Krabi provides all the elements of nature and the options for a health-focused holiday.”

Each of the villas selected for the Wellbeing Sanctuary has been adapted with various wellbeing amenities — a mini-bar stocked with fresh juices and herbal teas instead of alcoholic drinks, a yoga mat, stretch bands, and even a Tibetan singing bowl — and every room features its own private outdoor pool and hot jet pool.

Banyan Tree Spa Krabi

The resort’s onsite spa offers an extensive range of Asian-inspired body and beauty treatments, and features The Rainforest, a complete hydrothermal experience combining the best of European spa and hydrothermal therapy with the essence of Asian wellness philosophy. The Rainforest is Krabi’s first luxury hydrotherapy circuit, and includes: a Rain Walk, Chinese Herbal Steam, Brine Steam, Sauna, Rain Shower, Ice Fountain, Vitality Pool, Cold/Hot Plunge Pools, Jet Pool and heated loungers.

Signature massages at Banyan Tree Spa Krabi  include: the Royal Banyan (a 150-minute blend of Eastern and Western massage techniques to improve blood circulation and ease muscle aches, which also features pressure with a warm herbal pouch dipped in sesame oil); the Sense of Place: Krabi Tranquility (a 150-minute experience in nature, including a jasmine & sky flower leaf scrub, a stone massage, head massage, and coconut milk bath); and the Tropical Rainmist (includes an invigorating body scrub to purify the skin, boosted with the extra moisture of a rain shower, and concluded with a Thai massage).

The spa has also introduced Thai Therapeutic Tapping Massage, originally a northern Thai technique using a wooden hammer and stick, whereby soothing vibrations resonate through the muscles and fascia. The Tapping Massage is enhanced with warm herbal oils, helping to nurture the body and calm the nervous system.

An Award-winning Resort

Banyan Tree Krabi is a spectacular beachfront resort, nestled into a lush hillside at tranquil Tubkaek Beach in Krabi Province, southern Thailand

Banyan Tree Krabi offers 72 pool suites and villas, among them seven two-bedroom options, one three-bedroom villa, and a majestic seven-bedroom beachfront Presidential Villa. Each of the rooms faces the sea and the sunset as the property tiers into the hillside.

Facilities include two restaurants and a beach bar, a kids’ club, a fitness centre, meeting rooms, and — in harmony with Banyan Tree’s wellbeing branding — a tropical spa with Rainforest hydrotherapy facility.

Banyan Tree Krabi was awarded Two MICHELIN stars by the MICHELIN Guide in 2024 and 2025, and lauded by Fodor’s Travel 2026 as the only hotel in Thailand listed in The 100 Most Incredible Hotels in the World.

In September 2026, the resort’s signature restaurant Saffron was among only 20 restaurants recognised in the “Best Fine Dining Venues in Thailand’ in Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards: Best of the Best 2026.
