Sangkhla Village Boutique Hotel

During my 10-day media trip exploring the rich history, culture, and natural beauty of Kanchanaburi province in Thailand, I had the pleasure of staying at Sangkhla Village Boutique Hotel in Sangkhlaburi. This inviting boutique hotel blends modern comforts with touches of Roman styles (statues and fountains), creating a unique and warm ambiance that complements the nearby landscapes and iconic sites like the Mon Bridge, just a short walk away.

The hotel boasts 22 well-appointed, spacious rooms with comfortable furnishings, high-quality linens, and Mon-inspired décor that enhances the serene atmosphere. Each room includes air conditioning, a private bathroom, complimentary Wi-Fi, and coffee-making facilities, ensuring a comfortable stay. Some rooms open up to a spacious deck area, perfect for enjoying the surrounding scenery.

Guests can start their day with a simple breakfast provided by the hotel and unwind in the afternoon at the fairly large pool, which was a highlight of our stay. Additionally, the hotel has ample parking facilities for guests arriving by car, making it convenient for those exploring the wider Kanchanaburi region.

Beyond its amenities, Sangkhla Village offers a unique cultural experience by allowing guests to wear traditional Mon attire, which is perfect for photos or exploring the nearby Mon village and local attractions. The hotel’s proximity to the wooden Mon Bridge—the longest wooden bridge in Thailand—offers easy access to this iconic site, where visitors can take in stunning views and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Khao Laem Reservoir.

Sangkhlaburi itself is a hidden gem, known for its breathtaking landscapes and cultural diversity. Surrounded by lush mountains and tranquil waters, the village hosts vibrant communities, including Mon, Karen, and Thai ethnic groups, each with unique traditions. Guests can explore local markets, sample traditional dishes, and visit nearby temples to gain insight into the area’s historical and cultural richness.
