Planning a trip to Thailand? Starting May 1, 2025, foreign visitors will need to complete a new Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before entering the country. This update, introduced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is part of Thailand’s ongoing efforts to modernize and streamline entry procedures for international travelers. Developed by the Immigration Bureau, the TDAC system is designed to collect essential information from visitors prior to their arrival. The online platform is already live, and user-friendly mobile apps for both Android and iOS are expected to launch soon, making the process even more convenient for travellers on the go. This new digital form officially replaces the TM6 paper arrival card, which was discontinued in 2023. Unlike the TM6, the TDAC is entirely online and mandatory for all foreign nationals, regardless of their mode of entry—whether arriving by air, sea, or land. Who Needs to Complete the TDAC? All foreign visitors must complete the TDAC before arriving in Thailand. However, there are a few exceptions. Diplomatic personnel, members of certain international organizations, and accredited foreign officials residing in Thailand are exempt from this requirement. Thai citizens are also not required to complete the TDAC. When and How to Fill It Out Travelers can begin filling out the TDAC up to three days before their arrival date. The form will ask for basic travel information, including: Passport number and personal details Address of accommodation in Thailand Health-related information (if applicable) Those coming from high-risk areas may be asked to provide additional documentation or health details. The system allows for group submissions, making it easier for families or tour groups to submit their details together. Changes and updates to the form can be made right up until submission. If you’re planning to arrive on May 1, you can access the TDAC system as early as April 28 to complete your form in advance. Not a Visa Substitute It’s important to note that the TDAC does not replace a visa. Travelers who require a visa to enter Thailand must still obtain one through the appropriate channels. The TDAC simply serves as a digital arrival record to help authorities manage and support incoming travelers more efficiently.
