From a ‘Release and Renewal Fire Ceremony’ to ‘Sound and Stillness – A Collective Resonance Ritual’, TIA is creating spaces for connection that move beyond group classes. A 2025 report from the World Health Organization’s Commission on Social Connection highlighted how widespread and serious social isolation and loneliness is within society. The landmark report calls on all sectors to treat social health with the same level of importance as we do mental and physical health. “Our social wellness activities provide a container for people to gather, reflect and release,” explained Ramon Imper, general manager of TIA Wellness Resort. “The experiences may be rooted in inner reflection, but going through the process with others, and under the guidance of a facilitator provides a higher level of support and a feeling of community.” Held each week on Friday at 6pm, the 30-minute Release and Renewal Fire Ceremony invites guests to pause, reflect, and take part in a symbolic ritual of release. Guests think about what they are ready to release — any thoughts, emotions, or patterns that feel heavy or no longer serve them. They write them down and then place the paper into the fire, symbolically letting go. After that guests are invited to set a personal intention — something they wish to welcome, cultivate, or create in their lives. This intention is written down and also put in the fire, as guests engage in a ritual of transformation. “The fire serves as a visual and energetic focal point, supporting a sense of closure, clarity, and forward movement,” said Ramon. “This shared yet deeply personal experience fosters emotional release, intention setting, and a renewed sense of lightness, allowing guests to move through their TIA journey with greater awareness and presence.” Sound and Stillness – A Collective Resonance Ritual is a sensory-based experience that takes place in the garden of the Wellness Center. Fragrant rosewood, dense mangroves, towering ferns, taro, and vibrant parakeet flowers grow in abundance within the tropical garden. Nature is the backdrop for an immersive soundscape where wind chimes, singing bowls, and simple instruments are arranged to create sound stations. In the 30-minute session, held each Wednesday at 5pm, guests are first guided to pause, breathe, and settle into the moment, before choosing an intention or feeling that they wish to cultivate. They are then invited to play an instrument, allowing the sound and vibration to carry their intention into the shared space. “The key is minimal structure, no performance, no group timing — just a flowing, meditative soundscape created by guests,” added Ramon. “Studies have shown that sound healing helps reduce stress, tension and anxiety while improving spiritual wellbeing.” “We created these rituals in response to a growing need from our guests for acts of self-care that brought them together with others,” said Ramon. Eschewing quick fixes for long term change, over the last few years TIA has added more services that support guests once they leave the resort. In 2025 they launched WELL with TIA, a wellbeing YouTube channel with yoga, breathwork, and HIIT classes for use at home. The team have now also launched ‘Letters to Your Future Self,’ where guests come together to reflect and write a personal letter to themselves during their stay at TIA. The practice encourages guests to capture how they feel, what they are releasing, and what they wish to carry forward. During the half hour session, held each Sunday at 5pm, guests can come and go as they finish their reflection. The idea of yin and yang has long held court in leading a healthy lifestyle. Stillness needs to be balanced with movement and periods of introspection with outward expression. Staying true to this concept, TIA Wellness Resort, a leader in mind and body wellness along Vietnam’s central coast, has expanded its exercise offerings and added a new studio to its wellness center. TIA Wellness Resort in DaNang is painting a new image of a well-rounded, wellbeing approach with the launch of a new art gallery space this month. Building on the tool of creativity as a way to calm the mind and regulate emotions, the new gallery will sit alongside TIA’s Creative Space, where daily creativity workshops are hosted. The new gallery space features 32 images of varying shapes and sizes with 10 on display on the room’s walls and 22 hanging from purpose-built rods connecting the pillars in the inner part of the space. The 10 photographs were created by Jeff Courdrec, a French artisan photographer who used an analogue technique for this exclusive collaboration with TIA. Each image on display tells part of TIA’s story. Central to the TIA story are the concepts of stillness and splash. These diametrical themes thread the property, from a mala bead design on a pillow inspired by stillness to the splash- inspired gym, with its focus on strength, power training, and pushing limits in a dark charcoal interior. The artwork on display delves more deeply into the resort’s overall “From Stillness to Splash” wellness philosophy. The abstract art in the inner part of the new gallery reflects the Zen Splash concept, which is about inspiration, boldness, and creation. These ink images were created by a Hoi An-based calligrapher, Nguyễn Xuân Sinh. Indochina Rail Tourist Service joint stock company and Wafaifo Optimisers have signed a management agreement for Wafaifo Optimisers to manage the Revolution Express steam train, a remarkable new tourist experience in central Vietnam, which is expected to launch late 2024 or early 2025. Two original steam locomotives from the 1960s have been lovingly restored to working condition. The locomotives will pull two fully appointed retro-styled carriages that can seat up to 57 passengers each, as well as a custom-made kitchen carriage and a baggage carriage. The locomotives are the last remaining working steam ones in Vietnam, dating from the pre-independence era, both built locally in Vietnam, based on the French Mikado design. They have been painstakingly restored over a number of years, using original parts and utilising the skills of the last remaining steam engineers working for Vietnam Railways. The Revolution Express will make a return trip between Danang city and the former royal capital of Hue each day. Each journey will traverse the scenically remarkable Hai Van coastal mountain range and stop at Lang Co adjacent to beautiful lagoon and beach scenery. Surrounded by old world splendour and served by talents in period costume, passengers will be able to enjoy light food and drinks as they view one of the most picturesque coastlines and mountain passes in Southeast Asia. Indochina Rail and Wafaifo Optimisers signed the partnership agreement on 20 May in Danang in central Vietnam. The two parties were represented by Indochina Rail’s Chairman, Mr Michael Gebbie and  Wafaifo Optimisers’ Managing Director, Mr Pieter van der Hoeven, and Commercial Director, Mr Mikkel Krantz. “We are proud to bring these old dames of rail back to life and to showcase important periods in Vietnamese history from imperial through colonial rule and finally the struggle to independence,” said Mr Gebbie. “We seek to give visitors an interactive sense of Vietnam‘s history and future. Whether you enjoy learning about history or trains, or just want to ride an authentic heritage steam train over the famously scenic Hai Van Pass, the Revolution Express will offer a magical experience for young and old alike,” he said. Mr van der Hoeven added: “The Wafaifo Optimisers team is excited to be a part of a remarkable heritage tourism story that will allow train enthusiasts and mainstream tourists to feel like they are travelling back in time, in comfort, in a scenically spectacular corner of Vietnam.” Highlights of the tourist experience will include themed dining at the three railway stations on the route: Kim Lien (Danang), Lang Co and Hue. Each station will have its own menus and entertainment schedules to meet the arrival of the Revolution Express. Importantly, the train stations with their restaurants and retail offerings are being designed to also attract other road and VNR (Vietnam National Rail) passengers travelling between Danang, Lang Co and Hue on the scenic coastal route. In Hue, the original train maintenance building is being beautifully refurbished as the Station Restaurant. The venue is being themed in an imperial manner befitting the history of Hue, the last bastion of the dynastic era in Vietnam. In Lang Co, the restaurant will be themed to mark the independence that Vietnam enjoys today. Apart from a full restaurant offering, food carts will be on the station platform offering homemade ice cream, freshly squeezed fruit juices, Vietnamese coffee, and newly pressed sugar cane. Regular VNR-run trains all stop at Lang Co station for passenger refreshments. Potentially the third restaurant at the station on the outskirts of Danang will be developed. If so, it will be themed in a colonial manner to reflect a different era in Vietnam’s national journey. The plan is that when the Revolution Express arrives at the stations on the route a brass band in army regalia will greet disembarking guests. The Revolution Express is the only private rail operator in Vietnam. Wafaifo Optimisers will be responsible for marketing, booking and catering for the Revolution Express and its stations. The company will also open its own urban resort in the heritage city of Hoi An in the third quarter of this year.
