I was a bit tired from the drive from Kuantan when I suddenly told my friend to stop and stay overnight somewhere before heading to Genting Highlands. It was past 6 pm and the sky was already dark, the night was coming to replace the day. There was no point in continuing the drive, so we stopped for a light dinner in Genting Sempah, where we googled for a reasonable hotel or small inn to stay. DHill Inn Genting, at the Genting Foothills, not far from the Genting Skyway Cable Car, seemed to be the best choice. I called the hotel phone and booked a room for RM 85, which was within our budget. Plus. we urgently needed to rest our mind and body from a long journey. It was dark when we arrived at the hotel parking lot. The small town near the inn looked amazing and so full of decorations, it looked like Christmas was being celebrated, reminding me of English movies filmed in winter. I parked the car and headed to talk to the lady at the reception about the inn accommodations and prices. She told me the price is a little bit cheaper in weekdays, when the area is also not so crowded. Good for us, I thought. Our room was quite pleasant and designed in a very local way. The inn has 3 floors consisting of several rooms. The first thing I noticed was the window, with its wonderful view. I opened it, and felt a cold breeze enter the room. I loved it. The room had LCD Television, a fan, a king-size bed, shower with hot and cold water, a toilet bowl and a make-up table. No air-condition, but I guess you can imagine why: it’s Genting foothills and I can assure you it was icy cold. I was very happy with the room, though I wished the blanked had been thicker… As the DHill Inn is located by a small town, you do not need to worry as there are plenty of restaurants where to eat and plenty of stores where to buy essentials. DHill Inn is at 5, Genting Permai Boulevard, Genting Highland, Pahang 69000, Pahang. The inn is at 10 Kilometres from Genting Highlands. Find them at https://www.facebook.com/pages/DHill-In-Hotel-Genting-Permai-Genting-Highlands/538684362825623 Enjoy your stay.

Mui Ne Backpacker Village 137 Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Ham Tien, Mui Ne, Vietnam Binh Thuan Province +84 62 3741047 info@muinebackpackervillage.com http://www.muinebackpackervillage.com With the motto Relax, Enjoy and Just Be, Mui Ne Backpacker Village is one of the most affordable, beautiful and comfortable place to stay in the Mui Ne beach area. Run by Vietnamese born Thuy and her Australian husband John, this place has fantastic facilities, namely great rooms, a pleasant restaurant with good food, a bar, a swimming pool, internet access, cable TV, bicycle hire, free motorbike parking, currency exchange and laundry service. Set back from the main road, this resort is just a short 100 meter stroll to the main beach and it is located right in the middle of the main tourist attractions: Fairy Stream, Red Sand Dunes, Mui Ne Harbor and Po Shanu Cham Tower. This year my friend and I had the opportunity to stay at Mui Ne Backpacker Village during our sightseeing trip to Mui Ne. We found both the owners and the staff very amicable and informative. I was glad to be given a room just opposite the swimming pool, which gave us a good view of the whole resort. I was indeed fortunate to book well in advance since the resort was fully booked when we arrived there, thanks to its popularity. So for those who plan to stay here, do remember to book early. For a nature lover like me, I would highly recommend this place for its beautifully arranged gardens decorated in Vietnamese style. The food served at the restaurant was nice and yummy. A tip for Malaysian tourists: don’t miss a try to their bread, it is unique! Mui Ne Backpacker Village is also close to Mui Ne nightlife, making it all within easy walking distance. They accept US Dollar and also Vietnamese Dong. For more details, check their website at http://www.muinebackpackervillage.com/home.html or call the resort directly at +84623741047 for reservations.
The Kabiki 22, street 264 – Phnom Penh, Cambodia – tel +855 (0) 23 22 22 90 reservation@thekabiki.com – www.thekabiki.com https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Kabiki/412015348868126 https://twitter.com/TheKabiki http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g293940-d794810-Reviews-The_Kabiki-Phnom_Penh.html While looking at hotels in Phnom Pen on the internet, I stumbled upon one that had a curious name: The Kabiki. Their website is clean and captivating and their motto is “A peaceful oasis in the middle of Phnom Penh”, and that was enough to get me to book it. And I am happy I have done so! The Kabiki revealed to be much more than the quiet oasis described: is is such a great place in terms of location and style and staff that I would surely be staying there again when I return to the town. Opened by two French families in 2007, The Kabiki is a family friendly hotel ideally located in the heart of Phnom Penh, between the Royal Palace and the Independence Monument. With major sightseeing spots such as the National Museum, Wat Botum, the riverside and street 240 within walking distance, I could easily explore the city’s main attractions and enjoy an array of Khmer and Western style restaurants, galleries and boutiques. The Kabiki is set in a beautiful and lush 3500 m2 well-manicured garden setting, surrounded by 500 trees they have planted themselves to add a natural and exotic feel to the premises. And here comes the name: the Kabiki is a huge tree native of India that stands 15m high right in the middle on the park, an uncontested feature of the resort. It is worth mentioning at this point that The Kabiki is strongly committed to ecological values: together with sister properties The Pavilion and The Plantation, they now occupy over a hectare in the very center of Phnom Penh, and the low density construction allows them to dedicate a very high share of this land to greenery, with lots of trees and over 45 different species of plants. Last but not least, their preference wood for the indoor furniture is sugar-palm since as it is a planted tree, using its wood does not contribute to deforestation. The Kabiki swimming pool is generous in size and lined with small green tiles that give it a natural touch, and comfortable day beds and lounge chairs spread around the garden. They also have a shallow baby-pool by the side, for families peace of mind. When I sat there for breakfast every morning at the pool side restaurant, served by well-trained waiters in a wide and airy area and observing the gardeners removing fallen leaves from the pathways with wicker brooms, I breathed in the scents of nature and of humidity after a rainy spell; the birds are comfortable in the height of leafy branches and homaged me with their musical concert while I drank good coffee and started another great day in Phnom Penh. Their 18 tastefully decorated rooms, eight with a private terrace, are complete with air-conditioning, ceiling fan, mosquito nets, safety box, a mini-bar, 32-inches flat screen TV, a kettle with tea and coffee and a hair dryer. All rooms have bathroom with shower and/or bathtub and have access to high-speed wi-fi connection, and so is the reception and the state-of-the-art restaurant area, where kind, helpful and professional staff serve you with perfect English skills. The Kabiki suited my afternoons of sunbathing and refreshment after a day of sightseeing, great sleeps and a welcoming escape from the bustling streets of Phnom Penh.

While looking at hotels in Phnom Pen on the internet, I stumbled upon one that had a curious name: The Kabiki. Their website is clean and captivating and their motto is “A peaceful oasis in the middle of Phnom Penh”, and that was enough to get me to book it. And I am happy I have done so!

The Kabiki revealed to be much more than the quiet oasis described: is is such a great place in terms of location and style and staff that I would surely be staying there again when I return to the town.

the main reception building

Opened by two French families in 2007, The Kabiki is a family friendly hotel ideally located in the heart of Phnom Penh, between the Royal Palace and the Independence Monument. With major sightseeing spots such as the National Museum, Wat Botum, the riverside and street 240 within walking distance, I could easily explore the city’s main attractions and enjoy an array of Khmer and Western style restaurants, galleries and boutiques.

the kabiki tree

The Kabiki swimming pool is generous in size and lined with small green tiles that give it a natural touch, and comfortable day beds and lounge chairs spread around the garden.

my lovely room at The Kabiki

Pandan Boutique Hotel #15A st282 Boeung Keng Kong 1, Chamkarmon Phnom Penh, Cambodia tel (855) 16 721 207 – (855) 77 881 175 website: www.pandanboutiquehotel.com email: info@pandanboutiquehotel.com Pandan Boutique Hotel is a new establishment in the earth of Phnom Pen, tucked away in a quiet, not so busy leafy street. If location is a must for you, then this hotel is ideal: strategically located at walking distance from shopping and business district, banks, clothes boutiques, handicrafts, cafes and a great choice of restaurants, Pandan Boutique Hotel is also within walking distance from the Independence Monument, 5 minutes drive to the Royal Palace and 10 minutes drive to the Tonle Sap riverside. Pandan Boutique Hotel offers a choice of 26 large rooms with a unique and classy design. I accommodated myself in mine, that was spacious and elegant, with a wooden parquet floor and classy hardwood furnishings all round. The double bed was firm and comfortable, with a soft duvet and pillows. The bathroom has a walk-in shower, fittings are modern, and there is a nice range of fragrant, natural bath products. I spotted immediately the large safe and the water boiler complete with a few sets of instant coffee and teas. But it is the staff the real bonus of Pandan Boutique Hotel. Khun Vimol at the front desk was simply helpful, and with her husband manage the establishment. The rest of the team is active and attentive to your needs can help you book a tour, chose a restaurant and can get you a tuktuk at the right price. The room cleaners were really thorough and even tidied up my clothes and stuff. Everybody will go the extra mile to ensure your comfort and ease and are always on hand to meet your needs. Breakfast is included in the room price. There was a good choice of breakfast items in the menu: in-season fruit platter, bread and delicious jams, eggs cooked in a variety of ways and fried rice, together with tea, coffee or fruit juices. The restaurant also offers a lunch and dinner menu, served in the quiet and pleasantly landscaped garden of Pandan Boutique Hotel, complete with lots of orchids. There is no pool but apparently you can use the pool in Goldiana across the road for $5. The team offer daily cleaning, laundry, dry cleaning and pressing service. I loved my stay at Pandan Boutique Hotel, which mostly met my requirements: you can tell from the air of simplicity that nothing is pretentious and that the place still retains an old charm. My sleeps were long and undisturbed. What more could you want to have from a hotel?

I had an awesome stay there during my recent visit to Chiang Mai. Guests can choose from 35 well decorated rooms with terraces and balconies, all with pool and garden views, all exuding an atmosphere of total peace and harmony. I chose a deluxe room; the size was comfortable and the washroom absolutely clean with a rain-shower as well as a good bathtub size that allows a couple to enjoy a romantic bath. The room had all the comforts you would need, including air conditioning with individual controls, a fully stocked mini bar and refrigerator, color LCD and cable TV, a hair dryer, slippers, a personal safety box, and coffee and tea making facilities, which I immediately took advantage of after eating the complimentary fruit basket I received upon arrival. This was followed by checking my email, only to find out that the free Wi-Fi access within the resort is fast and is connected to the TV, so you can watch your Youtube favourites right from bed. The facilities and services provided by Prat Rajapruek Resort & Spa ensure a more than pleasant stay for guests. The hotel offers access to a vast array of services, including a free valet parking, a bar, laundry service with ironing, a fitness center, free bicycles, complimentary round trip transfer service to airport and night bazaar, luggage storage facilities, and of course a stunning swimming pool. Other facilities offered at Prat Rajapruek Resort & Spa include meeting facilities and wedding services, providing solutions to fit every need, from seminars, to workshops, to business conferences or events like annual dinner and dance, karaoke parties or even school’s prom nights. The seminar and function rooms, with their high–ceilings and grandeur entrance, can accommodate up to 80 people and are equipped with a complete set of modern audiovisual facilities. Prat Rajapruek Resort & Spa also offers a wedding package Thai Lanna style. For any special event or requirement you can contact sales.pratrajapruek@gmail.com Prat Rajapruek Resort & Spa restaurant offers a good menu with a great choice of traditional Thai and Western cuisine, as well as a variety of morning breakfasts that include American, English, continental, Thai fried rice, porridge and more. The dining at Prat Rajapruek Resort & Spa restaurant is indeed more than just the cooking. Their menu is simple and uncomplicated, combining the best, freshest and most authentic ingredients so they can achieve a traditionally Asian dining experience you will not be disappointed about. Cocktails themselves are an art affair, with the mixologist creating special signature drinks mixing the best brands of beverages with home-made syrups and pairing them with the restaurant dishes. Last but not least, thumbs up for the hotel friendly staffs as they attended our requests without any issue and we felt well looked-after. Prat Rajapruek Resort & Spa is a great base from which to explore the vibrant city of Chiang Mai and its must-see attractions.
