Cathay has reached a milestone in its 1 Ticket, 1 Tree journey, with the planting of 30,000 mangrove trees in Southeast Asia since the initiative was launched in 2021. This includes 7,500 mangrove trees that Cathay and its partners have committed to plant in 2024, from tickets sold in Southeast Asia from a five-day campaign period in July 2023. Now in its fourth year, 1 Ticket, 1 Tree is a Southeast Asia initiative by Cathay that underscores its commitment to support local communities, restore local habitats and drive climate resilience. It involves Cathay planting a tree in the region for every ticket purchased from Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Cambodia during a specified campaign period. To kickstart 1 Ticket, 1 Tree this year, 4,000 trees were planted in Thailand’s Bangpu Nature Education Centre in Samut Prakan on 23 March 2024. The remaining trees will be progressively planted in mangrove forests across Southeast Asia in the coming months. Cathay continues to work with local environment and community partners to restore mangrove forests in the region. In Thailand for instance, half of the 4,000 trees were contributed by KTC (Krungthai Card), who joined Cathay’s efforts in Thailand for the first time this year. Since 2021, Cathay has worked with 13 local partners across the region to plant trees and ensure they grow and thrive. Cathay Regional General Manager for Southeast Asia Dominic Perret said: “Cathay’s 1 Ticket, 1 Tree in Southeast Asia reinforces our aspiration to be at the forefront of sustainability leadership and to advocate for collaborative actions to go Greener Together. Giving back to the communities we serve is an important part of this endeavour, as we collaborate with our customers and business partners to protect the coastal ecosystems that many local communities in the region depend on for food, protection and income. We are extremely encouraged by the positive response we’ve received from other like-minded partners who have since joined us in this effort, or simply helped spread the word.” 1 Ticket, 1 Tree will be rolled out in Southeast Asia again this year, where Cathay invites customers to contribute to the mangrove forests when they fly, simply by booking a ticket with Cathay. For more information on 1 Ticket, 1 Tree, please follow Cathay’s Facebook page Greener Together: Cathay’s commitment to sustainability leadership As one of the first airlines in Asia to set a target of 10% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for its total fuel consumption by 2030, Cathay fully recognises the challenges in transitioning to more sustainable energy in aviation. To address this, Cathay embraces a collaborative ethos, Greener Together, urging all stakeholders to unite in this important pursuit. Beyond SAF, we have also made important strides towards our 2050 carbon neutrality goal in other aspects of decarbonisation Full details of Cathay’s performance and commitments in sustainable development are available in its 2023 Sustainability Report, available here. Key highlights include committing to near-term climate improvements, accelerating the use of SAF, and moving towards more sustainable use of resources.

Malaysia Airlines is pleased to expand its partnership with Amadeus to improve the experience of its customers, including corporate and travel retailers over the coming years. The multi-year deal will see Malaysia’s national airline adopting Altéa NDC, Reference Experience, Dynamic Intelligence Hub and renewing its Amadeus Altéa Passenger Service System contract. In addition, the airline has also renewed and expanded its multi-year air content distribution partnership. With the seamless integration of Altéa NDC with the Amadeus Travel Platform, travel retailers will soon be able to access Malaysia Airlines’ full range of NDC-enabled content with full servicing functionalities. New Distribution Capability (NDC) is a travel industry-supported program by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) aimed at modernizing the way air products are retailed to travel agents, corporations and travelers. Group Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Airlines, Izham Ismail commented, “Malaysia Airlines has taken a step in the right direction in adopting NDC, as modernizing airline retail is essential for the entire business travel community. We are pleased to take our partnership further after having an incredible journey with Amadeus, supporting our transformation goals which is an important part of our long-term business plan. We are confident that with new technology solutions from Amadeus beyond the Passenger Service System, we can offer relevant and richer shopping experiences by allowing customers to personalize their travels to an unprecedented level, ultimately realizing our aspirations of becoming Asia’s Leading Travel and Aviation Services Group.”Glen Oliveiro, Senior Vice President, Greater China & Southeast Asia, Amadeus says: “We are excited that Malaysia Airlines is using Amadeus’ technology to support its digital transformation. Open source, cloud-based systems, and next-generation retailing capabilities will be the engine powering recovery, and we are at the forefront of these technologies in the travel industry. We are very excited to collaborate with Malaysia Airlines in creating smoother travel journeys for its customers thanks to innovative technology.”

The vibrant and innovative travel experience offered by Scoot, Asia/Pacific’s best low cost airline, is set to get bigger and better from 25 July, as Scoot and Tigerair Singapore aim to complete their integration and operate all flights under the Scoot brand, subject to final regulatory approval. With this final milestone in the integration process, the airlines will begin operating under a common license or Air’s Operator Certificate. Consequently, the flight designator code for Scoot flights will be changed from the current TZ to TR, the code currently used for Tigerair flights. All flight schedules remain unchanged. Thereon, Scoot website, www.flyscoot.com, will be the sole booking platform for all flights currently operated by Scoot and Tigerair, while the Scoot call centre will service bookings from both airlines at +65 3157 6434. The existing Scoot-Tigerair check-in counters will also reflect a single Scoot brand. In addition, guests can look forward to a refreshed look for the friendly Scoot crew, or Scootees, with a new uniform rolled out in celebration of Scoot’s new chapter ahead. These latest developments will wrap up the integration efforts of Scoot and Tigerair since May 2016, when they were brought under a common holding company, Budget Aviation Holdings. Mr Lee Lik Hsin, CEO of Budget Aviation Holdings, said, “The Scoot brand, known for its cheeky and fun vibe as well as innovative products, is well-loved by travellers around the world. We are looking forward to taking the brand further and offering guests a seamless travel experience throughout Scoot’s expanded network, with the completion of our integration into a single airline.” The integrated Scoot fleet will consist of Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A320-family aircraft. Currently, destinations such as Bangkok, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Taipei will continue to be operated on both B787 and A320 aircraft. The aircraft type operated for each flight will be indicated during the online flight selection and booking process. As part of the integration, the Airbus A320-family aircraft currently operated by Tigerair will also be dressed in Scoot’s livery, reflecting the Scoot name and signature bright yellow curves. The repainting will be carried out progressively and is expected to be completed by mid-2018. All Scoot and Tigerair guests with existing flight bookings scheduled on 25 July or later will be contacted via e-mail from 15 June to 23 July. Existing Scoot guests will also be provided with updated itineraries to reflect the change in flight designator code from TZ to TR. Guests may also start purchasing and managing existing Scoot and Tigerair flights through the Scoot website, www.flyscoot.com or via Scoot call center at +60 32 630 8976.
