Cathay’s Airbus A350 passenger aircraft, adorned with its classic ‘lettuce leaf sandwich’ livery, touched down at Singapore Changi Airport for the first time yesterday, marking a special moment in the airline’s “80 Years Together” anniversary celebrations. Paying homage to the much-loved green-and-white striped design, the iconic livery pays tribute to Cathay’s earlier years and the legacy it has built over eight decades. The debut appearance in Singapore marked another milestone in showcasing Cathay’s heritage in one of its most important markets in Southeast Asia. “Singapore has been part of Cathay’s journey from the very beginning, starting with our first scheduled flight in 1946, and it continues to be one of our most important markets in Southeast Asia,” said Cathay Regional General Manager for Southeast Asia and Oceania, Frosti Lau. He continued, “The special livery honours Cathay’s legacy while symbolising our continued progress to connecting the world via our Hong Kong hub. It bridges where we’ve been and where we’re headed and is a tribute to everyone who has been part of this 80-year journey—our people, our customers, our partners, and the communities we serve worldwide.” The occasion also highlights Cathay’s longstanding relationship with Singapore, which has played an important role in the airline’s network and regional presence and seen many firsts over the decades. When Changi International Airport first opened its doors in 1981, Cathay’s CX712 was the first commercially scheduled flight to depart, and in 2015, the airline was mentioned as one of 12 pioneer airlines that contributed to the growth and development of Singapore’s air hub. Cathay Pacific again made history by becoming the launch airline at Singapore Changi Airport’s Terminal 4, pioneering a suite of self-service options designed to support more personalised service through technology. During the event, the special livery aircraft made its way to Singapore Changi Airport’s Terminal 4, where it was greeted by special guests and Cathay representatives. The aircraft will continue to operate on international routes throughout 2026, extending the visibility of Cathay’s “80 Years Together” anniversary celebrations to customers and communities worldwide. As the brand embarks on its “80 Years Together” anniversary celebrations, Cathay will continue to roll out a range of celebrations, experiences and initiatives throughout 2026, celebrating the people, partnerships and journeys that have shaped its story.

To usher in this milestone year and honour its legacy of bringing people together, Cathay will be hosting a series of special events, initiatives and activations throughout 2026 — all anchored by the unifying theme of “80 Years Together” As a prelude to its “80 Years Together” celebrations, Cathay was delighted to unveil a special aircraft livery on one of its long-haul Airbus A350 passenger aircraft at a launch event today. Adorned with the airline’s iconic “lettuce leaf sandwich” design as well as the 80th anniversary year mark, the livery pays homage to the much-loved green-and-white striped paint scheme, echoing Cathay’s storied legacy while symbolising its continued growth and progress. A second “lettuce leaf sandwich” livery on one of Cathay’s Boeing 747 freighters will also be revealed in the coming weeks. Speaking at the event, Cathay Group Chief Executive Officer Ronald Lam said: “Today marks not just an important milestone for Cathay, but a celebration of our ‘80 Years Together’ with Hong Kong. Guided by our purpose to move people forward in life, Cathay and Hong Kong have grown together over the past eight decades, supporting each other through thick and thin. From Kai Tak to Chek Lap Kok, whether it’s studying abroad, conducting business, exploring the world, reuniting with family, or delivering vital supplies at critical moments, Cathay has always stood with the people of Hong Kong through countless shared journeys and memories. “Looking ahead, through our investment of well over HK$100 billion into our fleet, cabin products, lounges and digital innovation, Cathay will continue to elevate the customer experience as we strive towards our refreshed vision to become our customers’ most loved service brand. At the same time, we remain steadfast in our commitment to strengthening Hong Kong’s status as a leading international aviation hub. “With the continued support and encouragement of our people, customers and partners, I am confident that Cathay, as an iconic Hong Kong brand, will soar to even greater heights in the years to come.” Cabin crew donning Cathay Pacific’s vintage uniforms through various design eras also made a special appearance, paying tribute to the generations of people who have defined the signature Cathay service in the skies. Throughout 2026, around 1,000 to 2,000 of Cathay’s cabin crew and ground employees will wear and showcase these vintage uniforms at work, bringing the evolution of the Cathay brand to life in true Cathay fashion. In addition, customers can look forward to a thoughtfully curated collection of merchandise inspired by the special liveries and iconic designs from different eras in Cathay’s storied history.
Cathay has launched a new campaign, “Slowly Explore, Fully Inspired,” a heartfelt short film exploring the joy of slowing down and finding inspiration through travel and art. Filmed in Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District (WestK), the story highlights Hong Kong’s growing role as a world-class arts and cultural destination. Produced by acclaimed Thai filmmaker Chayanop Boonprakob (Moo), the film is part of Cathay’s ongoing three-year collaboration with the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA). The partnership aims to encourage travellers to look beyond the surface of sightseeing and embrace meaningful discovery through art. A story of rediscovery and human connection Starring beloved Thai content creator Pimtha Thanida Manalertruengkul and Singapore-based Australian model-actor Alexander Yue, the short film follows the couple as they navigate Hong Kong’s vibrant art scene. Pimtha’s character, Rachel, arrives in Hong Kong excited to explore, but her itinerary-focused boyfriend—played by Yue—rushes through each stop, intent on “seeing it all.” Their whirlwind pace comes to a head at M+, Asia’s pioneering museum of contemporary visual culture, where an unexpected incident forces them to pause, reflect, and rediscover the essence of travel: slowing down to truly experience the moment. Cathay and WestK: inspiring creativity through travel This production represents the latest step in Cathay’s collaboration with WKCDA, which began in 2023. As West Kowloon’s exclusive Travel Partner, Cathay has supported numerous cultural initiatives—from artist exchange programs to large-scale exhibitions—positioning Hong Kong as a bridge between East and West. Through “Slowly Explore, Fully Inspired,” Cathay reaffirms its commitment to travel that goes deeper than sightseeing—one that celebrates creativity, curiosity, and authentic human connection. Learn more about West Kowloon’s cultural attractions and events at www.westkowloon.hk. Travel inspired by art, at your own pace Cathay continues to promote a mindful, meaningful approach to travel, encouraging visitors to slow down, engage, and be inspired by local culture. In a world that often moves too fast, “Slowly Explore, Fully Inspired” invites travellers to rediscover the art of being present—whether through a museum visit, a quiet walk, or a heartfelt encounter that changes how we see the world.
Travel magazine and website Travel + Leisure ranked Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok as the seventh place most luxurious airport in the world. It was also rated second in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Financial information and research website Business Financing recently launched the best and worst airports in the world ranking in February this year. In the ranking, two Bangkok airports, Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang, were ranked among the worst in the world according to the opinions of business travellers from around the world. The unexpected ranking prompted Prime Minister’s Office spokesperson Chai Watcharong to warn Thais not to devalue the country’s main aviation hubs, saying the assessment may not be comprehensive. The spokesperson’s statement may be reasonable as Suvarnabhumi Airport managed to restore the reputation of Thailand by being ranked as one of the top ten luxury airports in the world this month. The Travel + Leisure publication revealed the names of the airports that offer passengers the most luxurious experience, based on a study by AllClear Travel Insurance, which looked at 1,800 airports around the world. The study focused on the number of lounges in the passenger terminal, designer brand shops, luxury hotels in the area and the availability of champagne and caviar before boarding. Based on these criteria, Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi Airport was ranked seventh in the world with a score of 55 out of 100. The airport lost the most points for the availability of champagne and caviar before boarding and the number of luxury hotels close to the airport. The winner was Dubai International Airport, and the full ranking of the top ten most luxurious airports is below: Dubai International Airport London Heathrow Airport Hamad International Airport Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport Sydney International Airport Singapore Changi Airport Suvarnabhumi International Airport Hong Kong International Airport Frankfurt Airport Narita International Airport As well as being in the top ten, Suvarnabhumi Airport also won second place for the most luxurious airport in ASEAN. The regional winner was Singapore Changi Airport.

Dohop, the European market leader for alternative interline solutions, has today announced it will now enable Norse Atlantic Airways and Thai Vietjet to offer seamless and connected journeys to their travellers. The move follows the launch of Norse’s twice-weekly service to Bangkok from Oslo, and will enable Norse customers to simply and conveniently connect to a wide range of popular domestic destinations across Thailand, including Phuket, Krabi, and Chiang Mai. The new partnership between Norse Atlantic Airways and Thai Vietjet relies on Dohop’s technology, which automatically generates the best flight options and fares for customers through a unified booking process, based on their departure and arrival airports. Dohop manages the connection and offers prompt assistance in the event of flight cancellations or delays, ensuring travellers reach their desired destinations as quickly and conveniently as possible. Zoe Osborne, Head of Commercial Partnerships at Norse Atlantic Airways, commented: “We are very pleased to further expand our connectivity offering to our passengers. Combined with our previously announced airline partners we will be able to provide even greater choice and convenience for passengers wishing to travel across the Atlantic.” Pinyot Pibulsonggram, Head of Commercial at Thai Vietjet, said: “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Norse. With the collaboration between both parties, Thai Vietjet will be able to provide our passengers with a more convenient connection to numerous destinations around the world via our Bangkok Suvarnabhumi base, as we are expanding more flight connections to various destinations across the Asia-pacific region.” David Gunnarsson, CEO at Dohop, added: “This collaboration between Norse and Thai Vietjet is the perfect example of how alternative interlining can help airlines tap into new pools of demand and serve more customers. Both airlines will be well positioned to unlock new commercial opportunities together and offer even more choice to their travellers – all without the constraints of traditional interline or codeshare agreements. “We’re excited to be empowering two forward-thinking carriers to explore the benefits of a new way to partner and look forward to seeing more Norse customers explore the beauty of Thailand’s regional destinations with Thai Vietjet.” Dohop’s technology empowers airlines like Thai Vietjet and Norse Atlantic Airways to expand their network by giving their travellers access to destinations they do not serve directly. By leveraging the power of alternative interlining, they can increase revenue through simple and profitable airline partnership, all while retaining ownership of their customers.
In conjunction with the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, Cathay Pacific will be kicking off its 1 Ticket, 1 Tree initiative on 26 July 2023. For every ticket sold online from 26 to 30 July 2023 in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam and Cambodia, Cathay Pacific pledges to plant a mangrove tree in Southeast Asia. This would be the third year that Cathay Pacific is embarking on this initiative, underscoring its commitment to give back to the communities it serves in practical and meaningful ways. Cathay Pacific’s 1 Ticket, 1 Tree initiative was launched in Thailand in 2021. This was expanded to Southeast Asia in 2022. Notably, more than 21,000 mangrove trees have been planted across the region since then. With mangroves being the lifeblood of many Southeast Asian coastal ecosystems, Cathay Pacific hopes to do its part to protect local livelihoods and biodiversity in the region. 1 Ticket, 1 Tree is part of Cathay Pacific’s broader commitment to sustainability leadership. To inspire more people to come together to lead change, volunteers and members of the community were invited to take part in the tree-planting itself. In total, more than 180 volunteers comprising Cathay Pacific employees, partners, and even disadvantaged members of the community have come together since the launch to plant trees in their respective countries. Dominic Perret, Regional General Manager of Cathay Pacific Southeast Asia & Southwest Pacific, reasserted the airline’s commitment to sustainability and giving back to the communities it serves. “We are very proud to be organising 1 Ticket, 1 Tree for the third year running, especially since this was initiated during a very challenging period for us as an airline. The feedback we’ve received from our employees, partners and members of the community since then has been most heartfelt and encouraging, and we’re glad to be able to continue this momentum to make positive change, one tree at a time. As a global airline, we strongly believe we can lead change, and we are committed to working with like-minded partners to do so.” For more information on 1 Ticket, 1 Tree, please visit: Singapore – Malaysia – Indonesia – Philippines – Cambodia – Thailand – Vietnam

New and reestablished air links with important markets including Japan, Korea, India, and China will allow golf tourism to take flight again in Central Vietnam. That’s the view from the Vietnam Golf Coast (VGC) — a freshly rebooted destination marketing organization that links the region’s best signature golf courses. Danang International Airport is currently Vietnam’s third busiest aviation hub. And it’s gearing up for a bumper period ahead as Central Vietnam reasserts its reputation as a hub for golf and rolls out the red carpet for visitors travelling from Japan, China, India, Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, and Malaysia: its current roster of international destinations. In late March, national carrier Vietnam Airlines resumed its popular route between Danang and Tokyo, Japan’s capital. The coming months, meanwhile, will witness a ramping up of services between Danang and tier-one Chinese cities including Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chengdu. These developments come hot on the heels of other major route launches and resumptions. New routes launched so far in 2023 include services linking Danang with Taipei in Taiwan and Macau. Other relaunched links include one between Danang and Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Last year, meanwhile, low-cost carrier Vietjet Air launched new routes from Danang to Singapore, Busan in South Korea, and major Indian cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore. “With its range of clubs and off-course attractions, central Vientiane is a truly world-class golf hub. The fact that it’s better connected than ever with the rest of the region can only be good news for the destination,” said Gary Dixon, general manager at Ba Na Hills Golf Club, one of the driving forces in the Vietnam Golf Coast and home to a championship layout masterminded by 2023 European Ryder Cup team captain Luke Donald. With high-quality golf combined with incredible beaches and luxury accommodations like the award-winning properties at Laguna Lang Co —resorts Banyan Tree Lang Co and Angsana Lang Co, and the Laguna Park Villas private residences — Central Vietnam is arguably Vietnam’s hub for golf tourism. It offers a range of attractions, including the heritage sites in history-steeped Hoi An and the Golden Bridge at Sun World Ba Na Hill: a 150-metre-long pedestrian bridge that is one of Asia’s most photographed landmarks. Its myriad attributes are complemented by world-class infrastructure that includes Danang International Airport, which links Danang with direct flights to 25 regional destinations and 8 destinations within Vietnam. Clubs in the area are reporting brisk business as golf travel returns with a vengeance. Banner events such as the Danang International Fireworks Festival—a two-month-long jamboree encompassing firework performances and cultural celebrations that returns in June after a two-year hiatus— are also helping to elevate the destination and tempt back international visitors. “Central Vietnam is ready to welcome back the world,” said Adam Calver, Director of Golf & Destination Marketing at Laguna Lang Co, home to an award-winning Sir Nick Faldo Signature Design. “Markets such as Korea and Japan have traditionally been huge for us and we are delighted to see travel ramping up from these countries and other destinations including giants like China and India, the two most populous countries on the planet. These air links will contribute to opening more opportunities, boosting the economy, and promoting trade and tourism.”

All Nippon Airways (ANA) is taking a significant step through an extended partnership with Amadeus. The renewed deal will continue to see the Amadeus Altéa Passenger Service System (PSS) support all ANA international flights across reservation, inventory, ticketing, and departure control. In addition, ANA will also be implementing new digital, pricing and payment capabilities. This partnership will bring flexibility and personalisation capabilities to the airline, allowing it to provide a seamless experience for its customers. As a significant extension of the partnership, all ANA domestic flights will also be migrating onto Altéa, including the domestic airlines currently hosted on ANA’s in-house PSS system. Amadeus’ technology will bring ANA and these airlines onto a single platform, enabling the airline to decommission its in-house PSS system by 2026. With the Altéa Passenger Service System being the key touchpoint for ANA’s domestic and international flights operations, ANA will be able to optimize its existing and future operations, allowing the airline to achieve a higher level of customer experience management, and embrace the next phase of travel demand. “For the past 34 years, we have had separate passenger systems for international and domestic flights. We’ve already seen the benefits of Amadeus Altéa PSS with our international business, and we’re excited to bring our domestic flight operations onto the Amadeus system. This one, integrated platform will deliver benefits to ANA and our passengers. For example, together with the new solutions we’re adding in, we have a new infrastructure for selling. This agreement is a step-change for us in our digital transformation journey to further improve our operational efficiency. We are confident the strengthened partnership with Amadeus will improve our customers’ experience” says Sammy Aramaki, Chief Innovation Officer, ANA. “ANA and Amadeus have a long-standing relationship and we are excited to further strengthen and expand our partnership. We believe this agreement is a further step towards modern airline retailing and an example of the collaborative approach we at Amadeus take with our customers. ANA is renowned globally for its attention to detail and quality, and it is a privilege for us to collaborate with the airline to create memorable travel experiences for its passengers” says Javier Laforgue, Executive Vice President, Travel Unit & Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Amadeus. As a part of the wider Altéa global community, ANA will be able to offer passengers an improved customer experience. Travelers will be able to enjoy a more flexible and personalized experience from booking to boarding. Tangible benefits include faster check-in and the consistent and automated application of their preferences at every touch point during their journey.

Newly established and headquartered in Hong Kong, Greater Bay Airlines is taking the next step in its growth strategy after obtaining its AOC (Air Operator’s Certificate) on 8th October, 2021. The carrier has signed an agreement with Amadeus to make its schedules and fares available to travel agencies worldwide via the Amadeus Travel Platform in the first quarter of 2022. Flights will commence in the same quarter, subject to regulatory approvals. Amadeus-connected travel sellers — including travel management companies, corporations, tour operators, retail travel agencies, online travel agencies, and metasearch — will be able to easily search, book and service reservations on Greater Bay Airlines. Through the Amadeus Travel Platform, they will gain access to the airline’s flight schedules, load changes, seat maps, ancillary services and fare families as well as real-time flight updates. These options will empower travel sellers to tailor offerings to their customers’ specific requirements, generating more value for both customer and airline. Algernon Yau, Chief Executive Officer, Greater Bay Airlines, says “We are pleased to appoint Amadeus as one of our service providers for Global Distribution System. Amadeus could support our rapid implementation requirements and the growth of our airline.” Frederic Saunier, Regional Vice President, Airline Distribution Sales, Asia Pacific, Amadeus, says, “We are excited that Greater Bay Airlines will be utilizing Amadeus’ technology as it embarks on its new journey when it begins flights end of this year. We are very pleased that Greater Bay Airlines has selected Amadeus as its distribution partner, and we look forward to supporting its growth as travel rebuilds.” Greater Bay Airlines has applied for the rights to operate in 104 destinations across the region, including Chinese Mainland, North and Southeast Asia. The carrier has already leased three Boeing 737-800 aircraft and plans to grow its fleet to 30 aircraft over the next five years.
